• Know what you can afford by getting pre-approved for a mortgage. Contact me, and I can connect you with excellent mortgage brokers who will walk you through the steps and pre-approve you. Or, you can work with a credit union or bank of your choice. Being pre-approved gives you a realistic understanding of your ideal purchase price and means that you can bring a serious offer to a seller.

• Use a mortgage calculator to determine your down payment and what monthly payment you are comfortable making.

• Do some research about where you want to live. Explore the neighborhoods online and, if possible, in person. I love LA and its rapidly changing neighborhoods.
